In the auspicious presence of T10 League Abu Dhabi franchise, Deccan Gladiators’ owner Gaurav Grover, Aditya Khanna (Deccan Gladiators Advisor), D.K. Aggarwal (Cricplex Founder) and Goldy Sehgal (Ghaziabad Cricket Association Media Head), the All-India Under-19 Cricplex Kalinga Cup was inaugurated in a grand style. Saket Strikers won the inaugural encounter against the BM Cricket Academy by a convincing margin of 195 runs.

In the opening match, the Saket Strikers won the toss and opted to bat first. The two openers, Dhuruv Mahopatra and Tushar Tyagi came out with a positive mindset proving their team with strong opening foundation. The Saket Strikers got off to a great start as they did not lose a single wicket in the first 10 overs. However, the middle-order batters failed to convert their respective starts into bigger scores.

Tushar strokes the maiden half-century of the tournament

Tushar was batting really well at one end as he smashed the first half-century of this Cricplex Kalinga Cup. In the middle-order, Hemant Shukla scored 20 runs off 24 balls and Akash recorded 29 runs off 25 balls that included 7 boundaries. However, the star performer in the first innings was Tushar Tyagi who played a fantastic innings of 93 runs off just 62 balls that consisted of 13 fours and 4 sixes that helped Saket Strikers post a challenging total of 248 runs in 42.1 overs. For the BM Cricket Academy, Harshit Gaba picked up a stunning five-wicket haul while Mandeep Solankia took four wickets.

Karthik registers the first hat-trick of Cricplex Kalinga Cup

In the second innings, the BM Cricket Academy got off to a horrendous start losing key wickets at the top. Saket Strikers’ bowler Karthik registered the first-ever hat-trick of the tournament as he picked up three successive wickets off consecutive deliveries to leave the opposition in a rattling situation. After the top-order collapse, the BM Cricket Academy never recovered as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals.

Akash Kumar was the only batsman to get into double digits and the rest of the players failed to even cross single digits. Karthik bowled sensationally well picking up an excellent five-wicket haul that includes a phenomenal hat-trick as the BM Cricket Academy bundled out for a paltry total of 53 runs in 19 overs.
