The Cricplex Kalinga Cup was inaugurated in a grand style with the Saket Strikers defeating the BM Cricket Academy by 195 runs in the opening encounter at the Cricplex Cricket Academy in Noida. Tushar Tyagi played an excellent match-winning knock of 93 runs for the Saket Strikers.
As published in the esteemed column of the Hindustan, many of the big names like T10 League Abu Dhabi franchise, Deccan Gladiators’ owner Gaurav Grover, Aditya Khanna (Deccan Gladiators Advisor), D.K. Aggarwal (Cricplex Founder) and Goldy Sehgal (Ghaziabad Cricket Association Media Head),marked their presence at the opening of the All-India Under-19 Cricplex Kalinga Cup. Deccan Gladiators’ owner Gaurav Grover, whose team finished as the runners-up in the recently concluded T10 League Abu Dhabi, inaugurated the tournament. He was extremely delighted with the organization of the tournament and the services provided at the Cricplex Cricket Academy in Noida.
While batting first, the Saket Strikers posted a pretty challenging total of 248 runs on the scoreboard in 42.1 overs. Tushar Tyagi was the standout batsman for the Strikers as he played an exceptional innings of 93 runs off just 62 balls that consisted of 13 fours and 4 sixes. In the middle-order, Hemant Shukla scored 20 runs off 24 balls and Akash recorded 29 runs off 25 balls that included 7 boundaries. For the BM Cricket Academy, Harshit Gaba picked up a stunning five-wicket haul while Mandeep Solankia took four wickets.
In the second innings, the BM Cricket Academy never really got going as Karthik rattled them by registering the first-ever hat-trick of the tournament. Akash Kumar was the only batsman to get into double digits and the rest of the players failed to even cross the single digit mark. Karthik bowled sensationally well picking up an excellent five-wicket haul that includes a phenomenal hat-trick as the BM Cricket Academy bundled out for a paltry total of 53 runs in 19 overs.
Karthik was named the Man of the Match for picking the first-ever hat-trick of the Cricplex Kalinga Cup. For his fabulous spell of five wickets, Harshit Gaba was adjudged as the Fighter of the Match. Deccan Gladiators’ owner Gaurav Grover mentioned that the Cricplex Kalinga Cup presents a great platform for the young cricketers to showcase their talent at the biggest stage.
