While riding on Om Saini’s brilliant match-winning innings of 118 runs off 72 balls, the DS Cricket Academy handed a 3-wicket defeat to the Saket Strikers at the NCG. Tushar Tyagi scored the first hundred of the Cricplex Kalinga Cup but his knock of 106 runs went in vain.

Coming from a winning momentum, Saket Strikers once again won the toss and opted to bat first this time as well. The Strikers did not get off to the best of starts losing the wicket of their opening batsman Dhruv Mahopatra got dismissed quite early. However, the in-form opening batsman Tushar Tyagi, who played a match-winning knock in the last game, was once again looking in a fabulous touch as he was striking the ball very nicely.

Tushar and Pradeep stitched an excellent partnership in the middle-order to provide their team with a strong opening foundation. Pradeep played a fine innings of 42 runs off 35 balls that included 4 fours and 1 six. While continuing from where he left in the previous game, Tushar composed an outstanding unbeaten innings of 106 runs off just 79 balls that consisted of 14 fours and 2 sixes that helped the Saket Strikers finish with 199 for 7 in 30 overs. For the DS Cricket Academy, Jatin Chaudhary picked three crucial wickets while Bhaskar took two scalps.

While chasing a tricky target of 200 runs, the DS Cricket Academy got off to a great start as the two openers, Om Saini and Bhaskar Bhardwaj came out with a positive mindset. The opening duo provided their team with a solid foundation at the top. Bhaskar scored 36 runs off 25 balls that included 4 boundaries.

However, DS Cricket Academy’s middle-order failed to take advantage of the excellent opening start as most of the batters even failed to cross the single digit mark. But it was Om Saini who played an exceptional match-winning knock of 118 runs off only 72 balls that consisted of 10 fours and 6 sixes that helped DS Cricket Academy chase the target with 29 balls to spare.

For the Saket Strikers, Hemant Shukla picked four wickets but he didn’t get the desired support from the rest of the bowlers. Om Saini was named the Man of the Match for his sensational century. Tushar Tyagi was adjudged as the Fighter of the Match for his excellent knock of 106 runs.
