In the sixth match of the Cricplex Kalinga Cup, the Pragati Sporting Orissa defeated the Cricket Foundation Hyderabad by a convincing margin of 6 wickets. Lipu Nayak picked up an exceptional five-wicket haul rattling Cricket Foundation Hyderabad team for just 114 runs.

Pragati Sporting won the toss and elected to field first at the Cricplex Cricket Academy in Noida. The Cricket Foundation Hyderabad got off to a poor start losing key wickets at the top. Pragati Sporting’s bowler Lipu Nayak bowled a stunning opening spell to leave the opposition in a reeling situation. Cricket Foundation Hyderabad kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and thus, their innings never really picked momentum.

In the middle-order, Shubham scored 38 runs off 44 balls that included 4 amazing sixes before getting dismissed by Lipu Nayak. The Pragati Sporting’s bowlers put up a brilliant collective performance to rattle the Cricket Foundation Hyderabad for a paltry total of 114 runs in 33.3 overs. Nayak finished with outstanding figures of 5 for 8. Sanath Saurav picked three crucial wickets while Trupti Ranjan took two scalps.

In the second innings, the Pragati Sporting lost the wickets of Subhnam Naik, Aakash Nayak and Biswa quite early. Shashank bowled an excellent opening spell in which he grabbed three vital wickets. The pair of Ankit Arnav and Amit Kumar Sahoo then got together to take their team forward in this run-chase. Both the batters showed great temperament and played quite patiently.

Amit Kumar Sahoo scored 27 runs off 35 balls in the crucial partnership for the fourth wicket. Ankit Arnav remained unbeaten till the end at 33 runs off 94 balls that included 4 boundaries as the Pragati Sporting chased down the target in 28.3 overs. Lipu Nayak was named the Man of the Match for his exceptional five-wicket haul. Shashank was adjudged as the Fighter of the Match.

Many of the players featuring in this match have also played for the Orissa Under-19 and Under-16 teams like Aakash Nayak (Under-19 Orissa), Sarthak Saurav Kr (Under-16 Orissa), Shubham Naik (Under-16 Orissa) and Biswa Bibhab Muduli (Under-19 Orissa). Two of the cricketers from the Cricket Foundation Hyderabad side, Aryan Cariappa and Shubham are currently playing for the Under-16 and Under-14 Hyderabad state teams respectively.
