In the ongoing Cricplex Kalinga Cup, the Cricket Gurukul picked up an excellent 22-run victory over LB Shastri. While riding on fifties from Chirag Kaliraman and Ghanshyam, Cricket Gurukul posted 236/8 in 30 overs. In the second innings, Jitendra Pal took a spectacular five-wicket haul rattling LB Shastri for 214 runs.
After losing the toss and being put in to bat first on the Turf Green Cricket Ground, the Cricket Gurukul team got off to a poor start losing the wicket of their opening batsman Takshit Rao quite early. The pair of Sourav Rai and Sachin Chaudhary then did resurrect the innings with a crucial partnership. However, both the set batters got out one after the other and failed to convert their valuable starts into big scores.
In the middle-order, Ayush Negi and Arhan Poddar also failed to contribute much with the bat. However, the duo comprising of Chirag Kaliraman and Ghanshyam batted really well and stitched an important stand to help Cricket Gurukul finish with a challenging score of 236 for 8 in 30 overs.
Ghanshyam scored 52 runs off 42 balls that included 4 fours and 2 sixes while Chirag remained unbeaten after playing an excellent innings of 73 runs off just 53 balls that consisted of 9 fours and 2 sixes. For the LB Shastri side, Kabir Walia picked four wickets and Aniket Lohia and Kavya took two wickets each.
In the second innings, LB Shastri got off to an amazing start with both their openers, Vimnayu and Kabir Walia setting a solid momentum at the top. Vimanyu scored an excellent knock of 57 runs off 49 balls that included 6 fours and 3 sixes while Kabir racked up 46 runs off 50 balls. The duo of Akshat Dadu and Kavya then added some crucial runs to take their team forward in the run-chase.
Akshat smashed a quick-fire innings of 51 runs off just 28 balls and Kavya scored 30 runs off 23 balls. However, with their dismissals, LB Shastri suffered a massive batting collapse towards the fag end of their innings as they got bowled out for 214 runs in 29.2 overs. For Cricket Gurukul, Jitendra Pal was the star performer with the ball picking up a sensational five-wicket haul.
For his brilliant bowling spell, Jitendra Pal was adjudged as the Man of the Match. Kabir Wali was named the Fighter of the Match for his four wickets and crucial 46-run knock while Ayush Negi was adjudged as the Best Fielder.
