In the ongoing exciting Cricplex Kalinga Cup, the Ashish Nehra Cricket Academy started off their campaign on a disappointing note as they lost their first match against the Saket Strikers by a huge margin of 8 wickets. Kartik picked up a sensational five-wicket haul bowling out Ashish Nehra Cricket Academy team for only 62 runs in 17.4 overs. Saket Strikers won the match in just 8.3 overs.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, the Ashish Nehra Cricket Academy got off to a horrendous start losing their top-order quite early in the game. The Saket Strikers’ bowlers took perfect advantage of the helpful conditions on offer in Noida. None of the batters really took the responsibility to settle down and move their team’s progress.

Only three players from the Ashish Nehra Cricket Academy managed to get into double digits and thus, they got bowled out for a paltry total of 62 runs in 17.4 overs. For the Saket Strikers, Karthik registered a brilliant fifer and Kuldeep and Hemant Shukla finished with two wickets each.

In the second innings, there wasn’t going to be much trouble for the Saket Strikers as they were chasing a very low total. However, they lost both their openers, Aaryan and Dhruv Mahopatra very early. The pair of Manish and Mayank Rawat then joined hands and stitched a crucial match-winning stand to help their team cross the finishing line in just 8.3 overs.

Manish remained unbeaten at 28 runs off 25 balls that included 3 fours and 2 sixes while Mayank was 15 not out. For the Ashish Nehra Academy, Irshad Ali took the two wickets. Kartik was named the Man of the Match for his spectacular five-wicket haul. For his two wickets, Irshad Ali was adjudged as the Fighter of the Match and Mayank Rawat took home the Best Fielder trophy.
