In a thriller of a game that went down the wire, the Ravindra Academy registered a 19-run victory over the Telefunken Cricket Club in the ongoing Cricplex Kalinga Cup. While batting first, Ravindra Academy could only manage to score 128 runs. However, in the second innings, Telefunken Cricket Club fell short of the target by 19 runs.
After losing the toss and being put in to bat first, the Ravindra Academy did not get off things to the best of starts with both the openers getting out early. Both Shivam Yadav and Sohail failed to convert their respective starts into bigger scores. None of the Ravindra Academy’s top-order batters played with responsibility and stitch crucial partnerships to set up a solid foundation at the top.
After the top-order poor show, the middle-order batsmen too failed to put up a strong performance and eventually the Ravindra Academy got bowled out for a total of 128 runs in 34.1 overs. Lakshay Kundra was the top-scorer with his knock of 24 runs off 15 balls. For the Telefunken Cricket Club, Gourav Rana bowled excellently well picking up four wickets. Jayant Chaudhary and Ashish Mene finished with two wickets each.
In the second innings, the Telefunken Cricket Club got off to a horrible start losing quick wickets quite early in the game. The Ravindra Academy bowler Kaml Bairwa bowled an incredible spell at the top to rattle the opposition top-order and hand his team a big advantage in the game. After the top-order batting collapse, the Telefunken Cricket Club never really recovered as none of their batsmen showed application to play a responsible innings.
Gourav Rana was the highest scorer with 32 runs off 42 balls that included 4 boundaries and eventually, the Telefunken Cricket Club folded for a paltry total of 109 runs in 32.1 overs. For the Ravindra Academy, Kamal took three crucial wickets. The trio of Keshav Dabas, Aditya Yadav and Varun Bhatti picked two wickets each.
